A Report on Onam Ce lebration on 25/08/23
The SNA of Tejasvini Nursing Institute of Mangalore Celebrated Onam day on 25/08/23. A programme was held at 8.30 am with the initiation of the pookalam competition. Each class was allotted certain slots for the flower carpet making. Judges arrived at 10.15 am. The ground was decorated beautifully by the decoration committee. It was filled with various flowers and coconut leaves.
The inauguration ceremony began at 10.30 am with a procession with the Mahaveli followed by the thiruvathira. The masters of the ceremony were Ms. Patricia D’souza and Ms.Nidhuna .The games committee conducted various games after the thiruvathira. The dance was performed by the girls from different batches.
The first game was the Candle race, followed by lemon spoon race, biscuit catching, bottle filling and chocolate pulling. The participants played the games with enthusiasm and their classmates cheered out for them. Two winners were selected from each game. The games ended at 1.15 pm.
At 1.30 Onam Sadhya was served to the students and staff, starting from the first BSc and GNM and ending with the 4th Bsc students. The Sadhya was served in the 3rd Bsc and 1st GNM classroom. The food was served on the banana leaves and everyone had to sit in a row in a straight line. The sadhya ended at 3.30pm. it was a delicious Sadhya. The food committee handled their responsibilities well.
The programme resumed at 3.30 pm with a flash mob performed by girls of various batches. An exciting coin finding game was conducted for the boys. One participant per class. A game of musical chairs was arranged for the female teaching staff.
Prize distribution was held at 4.00 pm. The prizes were distributed to all the winners of the various games by the nursing faculty. Than it was time for the most exciting part of the entire event, “The Tug of War”. Boys of different batches participated. It was a very interesting and tough match. The programme ended after the final match of tug of war.
